University College of Technology Sarawak (UCTS), is the culmination of the State of Sarawak’s vision and commitment in establishing a world-class institution of higher learning to spearhead the development and production of technical human resource for the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE).

The Groundbreaking Ceremony for UCTS green campus was held on 16th September 2012. This momentous occasion was officiated by Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Patinggi Mohd. Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak, Honorable Prime Minister of Malaysia. UCTS campus will cover an area of more than 95 acres when fully developed. Phase 1 is now ready and comprised of 5 academic blocks, one admin block, three lecture theatres, one block for deans and lecturers offices, a three storey library and a student and recreation centre. Apart from its futuristically designed buildings and state-of-the-art facilities, UCTS has also been designed as a platinum index green campus. Some of the green-building features incorporated are rain-water harvesting system, recycling of waste water for gardening use, solar photovoltaic panels for electricity generation, light and motion sensors for lighting.
Situated in Sibu, one of the main gateways into SCORE, UCTS’ campus is equipped with the latest state-of-the-art facilities to facilitate teaching, learning and research activities necessary in the production of graduates required by the industries within SCORE.
In addition, UCTS will be complemented by its own Science & Technology Park, which will bring about vast research and entrepreneurial opportunities through local and international industrial and educational collaborations.
Through its close collaboration with Universiti Kuala Lumpur, one of Malaysia’s leading technical university with over 20,000 students across the country, UCTS aims to complement the growth and fulfill the human resource and industrial needs of SCORE.
