STEM Playground 2018

STEM can be defined as a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific fields which are Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. STEM education is becoming increasingly essential in our society as technology continues to grow in our daily lives. These STEM’s activities have been incorporated in a concept of outdoor learning environments to give the students early exposure in a fun and approachable way.  There are four main activities provided during these two days including hydraulic powered robotic arm, hockey magnet game, shooter game, and game ball maze. The students had chance to understand the working principle of a dispenser through the DIY dispenser machines.

Objectives:

  • To give students an exposure to understanding the principles of hydraulic pressure system and its applications.
  • The students could understand the principle of the magnetic field and its applications in daily lives.
  • The students can explore the kinematics principles, including the position, velocity, and acceleration subjected to projectile motion.
  • To expose the students to understanding how things move and emphasize on the relationship between forces applied to an object, and resulting motion of the object.
Students learned about the physic principles in the exploration of the kinematics which include the position, velocity and acceleration subjected to projectile motion through the shooter game
Students were playing with hockey magnet game, which enabled them to understand the concept of magnetic field indirectly 
Students learnt about the concept of dispenser machines
Students were playing with game ball maze in order to understand the relationship between force applied to an object and resulting motion of the object
Students were trying to understand the concept of hydraulic pressure system and its application through hydraulic powered robotic arm
