The objective of the Industrial Training is to ensure our graduates understand how their knowledge could be used in real life situations, in industry or work place, and their related environments. This will enhance their abilities and skills while studying in the university. The students will also have the chance to understand the organizational structure so as to stimulate favorable human relations and teamwork.
For the engineering programme, the minimum duration of training is ten (10) weeks upon student’s completion of Year Three (3). For the technology and engineering technology programme, the indrustrial training duration is six (6) months during the last semester of the programme.
Assessment of the training will be done by both the host organization and the university. The university works together with the host organization to identify the set of skills needed, method of measuring these skills and assessing these measurements. The student will be placed under a supervisor who is appointed by the host organization. The university in turn appoints a course coordinator.
The followings are the intended outcomes of the industrial training:
- The students are exposed to various aspects of real life engineering practices.
- The students can acquire engineering skills including that of writing technical report, communication, technical evaluation and design.
- The students can learn the ethic of engineering and responsibilities of engineers.
